Trying to mod LCD to run off battery power?
I have a small 7" LCD monitor that takes a DC transformer adapter, with a barrel connector. The LCD screen is rated 9v-12v DC <25w. With my universal transformer (1800mA max), set to 12v it works just fine.
I soldered a new plug of the same size to some battery terminals for a
12v 4aH battery. For all my calculations it should work, but it does
nothing, cant get it to power on. I do have the polarity correct. I am
trying to make the monitor portable off battery power.
What am I missing here?
The DC transformer puts out 12v at a max of 1800mA max. All I did was bascially buy a barrel connector the same size as the transformers and soldered it to some leads to connect to the battery. The battery is 4aH, should be enough to power it amp wise, and is a 12volt battery. As far as I can tell it should work. Im sure I am missing something. Amp calcs are probably off.
Non taken. I have checked the polarity on the tip/sleeve. I soldered it the same as the transformer.
The battery is Lead-acid. I get them from work. Brand new, fully charged. I know the battery is good. Cold solder joint: soldering iron not being hot enough for the solder to properly flow, yes? Thats a possibility. My buddy did the soldering and its not the cleanest job. Could that really be a cause as to why this wont work? But the battery should be strong enough to push the LCD screen, at least for a few minutes, yes?

Electronics/astronomy question-can you guys help me?
I have an Meade ETX-70AT telescope, which normally runs on 9 vdc. I don't like powering it with 9v battery though because it keeps on dying on me. Could I hook it up to a 12v 4ah battery to power the scope, or would does that run the risk of blowing the electronics? And no, Im not going to buy a 9vdc ac adapter, and yes, of course I can connect the wires with the correct polarity. any help appreciated.

What is the difference in a 12v-3Ah battery and a 12v-4Ah battery?
Im buying a new battery for my moped and the only battery that the company of the moped has is a 12v-4Ah battery. But the battery that i bought with the moped is a 12v-3Ah battery. Is these different batteries going to act differently with the moped. Im not trying to destroy another one.

How much should it cost to buy a new scooter battery?
Looked all over the net, but all I see are prices for dry batteries. I assume the price is different if I buy one locally. Unfortunately, its late and I cant call anyone.
